Open Afternoon Sunday 31st of December 2023

Visit your local Hydroelectric Power scheme producing renewable energy on the River Goyt on Sunday 31st of December 2023 12 – 4pm

Greater Manchester’s first community owned hydro-electric project is run entirely by volunteers*
Producing power that is fed directly into the National Grid, the Hydro creates an income to maintain the
scheme, pay a return to investors and contribute to our Environmental Challenge Fund**.

Our knowledgeable volunteers will give tours of the site and discuss the complexities and quirks involved in such a venture.

Nearby our friends at the historic Grade II listed Chadkirk Chapel and Country Park are also open for the afternoon. Refreshments will be available, cash only. https://chadkirkchapel.org/

Parking

Parking is available at Dobbies Garden Centre, Dooley Lane or Vale Road Car Park, between both sites and the safest place to cross the road. See https://carparkmaps.co.uk/carparks/view/13143

*Volunteers needed to support this unique project. Do your bit to help combat climate change and keep those turbines turning! No prior experience necessary.

**Can we help you start an environmental project? For further information about our Environmental challenge fund and an application form: https://stockport-hydro.co.uk/environmental-awards/ The closing date for applications is 31st of January 2024
